| Admissions | To register a new student in St. John School, parents must submit a copy of the childs most recent report card, and then schedule an appointment for a grade level reading, English and math inventory of skills. Children generally do better in the St. John School kindergarten program and in later grades if they are at least five years of age by September 1st. (The State of Michigan requires kindergarten children to be five years of age by December 1.) Children of kindergarten age are scheduled for a kindergarten assessment, which offers information about a childs maturational or behavioral age, separate from a childs chronological age, achievement scores or intelligence. The developmental assessment measures specific behaviors, i.e. motor, personal-social, language and adaptive ability to learn with reasonable attention span and concentration, responsiveness to teaching, and attention to details and complexity. The Junior Kindergarten program is designed for children of kindergarten age (five years of age by December 1st) that would benefit from a year of developmental, educational activities before entering the St. John School kindergarten program. Registration in JK is based on the recommendation of the St. John School Kindergarten Assessment Team. The Junior Kindergarten PM session is held five days per week. When a child is approved for registration, the parent completes registration forms and returns them to the school office within one week. Registration is approved only when all required forms are completed and returned to the school office, previous St. John School accounts are paid in full, and responsible financial stewardship to the parish is ascertained. Late Junior High Registration Guideline No new Junior High students will be admitted to St. John School once the school year has begun. (There may be special circumstances that would warrant an exception to this guideline, i.e. a family moves into the area from another Catholic school, etc.) Adopted November 16, 1995 2007 - 2008 Tuition Schedule Active Parishioner Tuition Rate
Non-Parish Tuition Rate
Tuition - Parisher Tuition Requirements Parents, who are active registered members of St. John the Evangelist Parish demonstrating responsible Christian stewardship, qualify for the parishioner tuition/fee rate for St. John School. Responsible stewardship is imperative for the life of our parish and school community. To qualify for the parishioner tuition/fee rate, parents must:
St. John the Evangelist Parish assists active parishioner families by subsidizing the per pupil educational cost. Inactive parishioners, and families not members of St. John Parish, pay the per pupil cost. Tuition Payment Plans Tuition payments are handled through SMART Tuition Management Services. A form detailing the payment schedule is included in the registration packet. In lieu of the SMART tuition payment plan, families may make one annual tuition payment in the school office by August 1 and receive a 2% discount on the tuition. Requests for an alternate payment must be made in the school office. The principal and the parent must both sign the alternate payment form. Student Transfer In the event of a student transfer/entry after the opening date of school, tuition is pro-rated on a quarterly basis. If the student transfers before the end of a quarter, the tuition for the full quarter is due.
