Students at St. John School take the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) Tests (revised in 2005) in grades 3-8. Students' scores in the two years since MEAP tests were revised for "No Child Left Behind" have been higher in almost every grade and test area than those of Genesee County public/charter schools and schools in neighboring counties.

  • St. John School graduates regularly perform well academically at the high school level. About 70% of our graduates go on to Powers Catholic High School while the others attend Fenton High School or other area high schools. Feedback from high schools indicates that our graduates are well-prepared for high school expectations. One St. John School graduate recently achieved a perfect score on the ACT Test.
  • St. John School students and graduates excel in other areas as well. We have had a number of students complete the requirements for Eagle Scout while at St. John School. Student athletes enjoy a well-rounded athletic program at our school, and many achieve at high levels at high school. Our students are also involved in leadership and service opportunities.
  • St. John School continues to provide bully prevention training for staff, students, and parents. Teachers and staff were trained in August in Preventing School Violence by regionally-recognized expert, Dr. Marcia McEvoy. Dr. McEvoy also trained students and parents how to deal with annoying, mean, aggressive and bullying behaviors during three days at St. John School in September. The staff at St. John school is developing a rubric to address inappropriate behaviors in these areas as we strive to improve the safety of our school environment.
  • St. John School requires staff and volunteers to complete the Protecting God's Children program, per diocesan requirements, as a means of maintaining a safe environment for students.
