Athletics are an important part of a student's life they teach self-pride and sportsmanship on and off the playing field. They also teach discipline, integrity, mental and physical alertness and help athletes realize the responsibilities they have as a member of a team. These life lessons are part of a well-rounded education. We believe that anyone who is willing to try a sport should be allowed the opportunity to play, therefore St. John has a no cuts policy for its student athletes.
Our coaches work effectively to teach the fundamentals of each sport and strive to inspire the students to continue to grow and develop as athletes.
St. John is a member of the Flint Area Catholic School League (FACSL) and competes with other Catholic schools in the Flint area. All of the teams comply with the rules and regulations specific to the FACSL and the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Our football team is also a member of the Valley Youth Football League (VYFL)
Just a reminder for those whose children participate in local youth leagues (i.e. - Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation, Cage Sports) please note that Flint Area Catholic League Rules state: "Athletes of FACSL teams are not allowed to participate in the same sport for another team while the FACSL teams are in session."
